Newsletter February 08

Frostbites

Congratulations to Annette & Shane mug winners on January 27, Jane & Nigel mug winners on February 10 and Nicola & Colm mug winners on February 24. The 420's and Topaz have yet to win a prize so you still have a chance. There are still four races left to go. The last race is on March 30 (with a break the week before for the Easter Holiday). Contact Brenda if you'd like to race in March.
Note: There is sometimes a spare boat or an odd number of people, so even if you did not sign up originally you might still find a spot.

Night Out - Wednesday 27'th

Don't forget to join us for a drink in Doheny & Nesbits on Wednesday February 27’th from 8.30pm. This is in conjunction with Glenans, who regularly meet on the last Wednesday of each month.

Sports Capital Funding
We have submitted a lottery funding application to purchase a second container in order to improve changing facilities. Funding decisions will be announced in May. Thanks to Chris, Colm, Damien, Martina & Peter for their work on this.

We still have cruiser funding available to drawdown if a suitable boat is located. Damien, Donal and Peter are currently looking at some possible purchases, so there may be some progress shortly.

GISC - Courses
Why not blow away the cobwebs with a weekend in Glenans in March. There are two long weekends which are always good fun, and there are always plenty of SID crew onboard. It's also a good opportunity to sign up for powerboat or VHF training.

Treasurer Role
Colm Roche will be taking over as treasurer for 2008. Thanks to Ann for all her great work last year. The 2007 accounts are almost finalized and we should be in a position to hold an AGM reasonably early this year, probably during April.

Club Promotion
Angela and her team have been working busily to promote the club. You may have seen the flyer distributed with the GISC brochures sent out recently. There are extra copies of these in the container to be used as posters. Please take some copies and display them in your workplace or local shop or give to your friends.

2008 Membership
You can renew your membership now for just e300 before March 31(325 after that). There is also a e30 discount if you are a member of GISC. Please contact Brenda.
