Night Out
The end of summer was celebrated last week with a visit to Laylas Turkish restaurant. The Sultans Choice proved popular as did the the belly dancing. Afterwards we retired to Dohenys for a nightcap with some hardy souls partying on to Cafe Insane.
Thanks to Bronagh for organizing.
Kish Racing
Ruffin'It has been battling every Sunday morning in the Kish Series through September and October. There are around twenty members involved, and it's a first time racing around the cans for most.
This weeks race was to the Kish but there were few finishers as the wind died. The previous weeks crew took the scalp of 'Blue Moon' so we're on the up.

Frostbites
The frostbites will kick off on Sunday November 5 this year.
There will be a meeting on Thursday October 12 at 8pm in the National Yacht Club. Anyone who plans to take part should try to attend. Please let Chris know if you'll be there (or if you can't and wish to be included in racing plans).
The frostbites are a great way to try racing and a lot of fun. The emphasis is very much on taking part.

Magic Bag not Working
Some dinghy sailors have tried putting sails in a bag and leaving them in the container in the hope that they will automagically repair themselves. It doesn't look like it's going to work, so please organize somebody to drop them off to Downers for a more conventional repair.
With racing starting it's especially important to keep all the boats in working order.
Winter Cruising
Would you be interested in sailing on Glenans Spirit (Beneteau First 31.7 ) over the winter months? The cost would be approx e100 per person for a weekend (based on 4 on board). When on board you can cover Coastal practical chart work, Log miles towards Yachtmaster assessment, practice manoeuvres under sail and under power. You can dine on board or discover local eateries, sleep on board or return to land on Saturday evening. Price per person is 100 euros for the week-end, (based on a crew of 4). If there is enough interest from SID members we may be able to block book a number of weekends and possibly do longer trips. Membership of Glenans would be required (e35). Please contact Damien for more information.
Halloween
Bank Holiday weekends in Glenans are always great for sailing. You can even travel in a seasonal disguise. The Collanmore base is already booked out but there still places in Baltimore where you'll find a few SID regulars.
Crimewatch
There were reports of drunk & disorderly behaviour in Mayo last month. If you can identify any of the suspects in the following pictures then please contact the Gardaí in Westport immediately.
